Marquetry is a woodwork. You use thin veneers of wood cut in little pieces and with them you form a picture.
Generally you use different types of wood to get the colors and shades because the most beautiful (and difficult) works don't have any painting.
Because no two pieces of wood are the same the results may be similar but there are no two equal.
Each piece of marquetry is a unique work.
Here in FABRINICO we use peruvian native wood, that way we can get different colors and shades.
There is also marquetry using tinted wood, we use this technique when the picture looks better with colors you don't find in a piece of wood like blue.
